Katie was born to John and Kathleen Baynon in North Shore hospital. She was born with Down Syndrome, but that never slowed her down. She was one for the books. Defied all odds against her. Wanted it all and dared anyone to tell her she couldn't do it or have it! She lived a very full life, full of friends, family, social events, sporting events, etc. But it was cut way too short. She was only 29. 29! Katie dreamed big, she knew what she wanted, and knew she had to work harder for it. If only we had half the ambitition! Life was not fair for her from the very start. Living with a mental disability is nothing any of us could even imagine to understand. Thats what made her so remarkable. Regardless of her disability, she never showed her anger for life's unfairness. She just waited for it to be her turn and waited patiently. She loved unconditionally (a lesson we could all learn) and found only the good in people (Something that is very hard to do). She was also very forgiving and encouraging. I could use some of that encouragement now. Katie always told everyone that they were the best, I believe she meant it too. She knew what to say to make us smile. Her family was everything to her. She loved us more than we loved ourselves. She always showed us affection. You've never been hugged if you've never been hugged by Katie. They were so warm and welcoming. I miss those.
